Bulacan Department of Education (Bulacan DepEd ) is striving to improve education provision to the students in the province. In 2025, there are so many new things that are as a result of making children learn, teachers teach well, and schools become safer and more modern. This is a brief guide to what is new in Bulacan schools, curriculum and significant programs currently underway.

New Teachers and Classrooms  

In School Year 2025-2026,  saw the recruitment of 298 new teachers in DepEd Bulacan. Such teachers will assist in serving over 458,000 pupils of state schools. The new teachers will be teaching in various grades including kindergarten, elementary, junior and senior high school and special learning programs. Additional classrooms were also constructed to ensure that all children are able to learn well. These classrooms were financed by the local government and the national government.

Brigada Eskwela: Cleaning and Fixing Schools  

Brigada Eskwela is an annual volunteer activity in which teachers, parents, students, and other people in the community join hands to clean and fix schools. This began early in 2025 in Bulacan. The President, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. even paid visits to schools in the town of Malolos, so as to see the improvements. This program is an aid in making schools secure and comfortable to the learners and teachers.

Focus on Literacy: Helping Kids Read Better 

The greatest success stories in Bulacan is in Norzagaray, a town that made great efforts to make young students know how to read. Project BRIGHT (BRIdging Gaps through Helpful Tools), a program was developed at the schools in Norzagaray. The games, songs, reading stories, and one-on-one lessons are the means to make learning a fun and effective program. It is due to this that 60.73% of students there are now able to achieve grade level reading. It is far superior to the national average of 47.74. With this success, there is hope that every child in the Philippines will learn how to read properly provided that programs like this are implemented.

The Curriculum in Bulacan Schools  

Bulacan uses the K to 12 program prescribed by the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd). It provides the students 13 years of basic education, between kindergarten and Grade 12. The program covers:  

  • Kindergarten: Learning letters, numbers, simple skills and skills on working with people.  
  • Elementary (Grades 1-6): Read, write, math, science, social, arts, and physical education.  
  • Junior High School (Grades 7‑10):More advanced subjects, plus technology and livelihood lessons.  
  • Senior High School (Graces 11-12): In Advanced, students take some kind of track, e.g. Academic, Technical-Vocational-Livelihood, Sports, or Arts and Design, depending on their future desired study/activity.  

The literacy program is one of the main components of curriculum in 2025. Students who may find reading a bit difficult have special rules to enable them not to be left out. Educators are trained and guided to adopt new tools and techniques. Student well-being programs make learners feel safe and joyful in school.

Bulacan has numerous single- and multi-grade schools (public and private). Literacy success can be seen in some public elementary schools that are well known in North Hills Village, FVR Phase 3, and Norzagaray. Student and Teacher Support Programs.
